This show features improv games similar to those seen on the hit tv show "Whose Line is it Anyways?". A few of the games include "Props", "Party Game", "Lines from a Hat", "Snapshot", and "Detective Mystery". Be ready to shout out answers for the Improvers to use in their scenes. But be ready because you might be pulled up on the stage as well!! Besides the Improv Games, we perform a skit inspired by Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and a few fun skits that our performers came up with that incorporate the audience, improv, and lots of crazy wigs and such! Kick off your Sunday shoes: It's a song, it's a movie, it's a musical! Footloose is a jukebox musical based on the 1984 film of the same name. The stage adaptation is more family friendly than the film it is based on, and promises many more laughs while still conveying the powerful message. An ordinary city kid from Chicago ends up in a small town where dancing, along with just about anything else that's any fun, is illegal. An explosively energetic production, Footloose is full of electrifying music. The songs include most of the ones from the flick, ("The Girl Gets Around," "Holding Out for a Hero," "Let's Hear It for the Boy," "Almost Paradise," and of course the title tune), as well as a few new numbers. Into the Woods Opens This Week!!!!

INTO THE WOODS
Runs March 26-April 11th!

This Tuesday is a preview for all members of the theatre. There will be sign up sheets that night to help work the run in different areas such as the lounge, house managing, etc.

Wednesday night is a special preview performance; there will be a reception at 6PM to honor Roy Riedy, a member of HLT for many years who wrote the history of HLT. Tickets can be purchased for this event through the box office and include appetizers for that evening only.

Friday is the official Opening Night. After that shows run Friday night at 8PM, Sat. night at 8PM, Sunday at 2:30 PM and Wednesday night at 8PM.There is also a Saturday Matinee April 10th at 1PM. Wine Tasting & "Courtly Costumes through the Ages"

This month Highlands Little Theatre hopes to see you at two special events: “Courtly Costumes Through the Ages” and a Wine Tasting.

The first event taking place is “Courtly Costumes Through the Ages”. Join us February 20th at the Sebring Lakeside Casino Tea Room, 1063 Lake Sebring Drive, at 2PM for a retrospective look at fashion from antiquity to the Victorian era. The costumes you will see showcase the amazing talents of our Wardrobe Department at HLT. Many of the featured costumes may seem familiar to you as they have been seen on our stage, while others will make their debut at this event. These costumes are very dramatic and impressively made and styled. Buy your ticket today; seating is limited and you wouldn’t want to miss out on this fabulous event. The second event that will take place is a Wine Tasting February 27th at the Kenilworth Lodge, located on Lakeview Drive in Sebring. The event will run from 2-5PM and will be hosted by the Cusworth Arms Pub & Wine Bar. All proceeds will benefit Highlands Little Theatre. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the pub or HLT.

Into the Woods is described as “what happens after happily ever after” or “fairy tales with a twist.” Familiar characters such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk set out into the woods along with a Witch, a Wolf, a Baker and his wife and others. Smokey Joe's Cafe is a fantastic 50s and 60s musical review of the songs of Leiber and Stoller. It is a fast paced show with plenty of opportunity to show your personality through fun music. We are looking for energetic, show stopping entertainers that can wow the audience with their voices and stage presence. The dancers do not need to sing, but must be able to fill the stage with excitement and help take the audience on a musical journey.

Want to see what the show is about? Come watch the Broadway DVD of Smokey Joe's Cafe on Friday, April 24 at 7 PM in Anthony's Lounge at HLT.

The sign up sheets for the run of Thoroughly Modern Millie for Box Office and Building Maintenance are posted on the bulletin board in the copy room. See Beth to sign up for House Managing, and Kristin or Tracy to take a shift in the Lounge. Several performances are already sold out; we need all hands to make sure our patron's experience is the best it can be. Help is still needed in all of these areas - and more!

The annual General Membership meeting and board elections will take place Thursday May 7th. To be eligible to run and/or vote, you must be a current member aged 16 and up, no later than April 17th. All Individual, Family, Angel, and Guardian Angel memberships expire December 31st of each year. Check your membership card for the expiration date. Renewal forms are in several places at HLT.

HELP SELL SEASON TICKETS

We are diligently working towards moving up the season ticket sales process to begin renewals in June, changes in July and new subscribers in August. The box office can use several temporary helpers with this project. You do not have to work the computer system if you are not interested in that area. Some of the areas you can help include preparing the mailings, verifying the orders, being a runner/assistant and "lobby concierge". VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Highlands Little Theatre welcomes volunteers in every area, however, we have an urgent need in the Box Office and Building Maintenance departments.

The goal in the box office is to expand our hours of operation to every day of the week. We currently are closed for six weeks between the shows, and it is confusing and inconvenient for our patrons. Interested people must be or become members of HLT, be familiar and comfortable working on a PC, or willing to learn, and have experience with customer service and/or a desire to help people. Hours of availability requirements vary, and we can work with most schedules. We will train on our ticket selling system.

Building Maintenance needs several people to share the workload of performing routine upkeep and household repairs on a regular basis. For example, change AC filters and light bulbs monthly, clear roof drains before and after storms, fix leaky faucets, etc. There is a maintenance calendar to assist in keeping on top of these projects. Committee members must be or become HLT members. Membership dues are reasonable, and include supplemental insurance coverage while working here in any capacity.

Shakespeare in Hollywood Auditions

Audtions for Shakespeare in Hollywood are being held in the Drs. Thakkar Pavilion at 6 PM on March 2, 3, 4 and 9 AM March 7. Another comedy from Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, Shakespeare's characters, Oberon & Puck have magically appeared on the 1934 Hollywood set of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
